A-Rod Chokes As Yankees Lose To Angels

The New York Yankees lost to the Los Angeles Angels by a score of 5-4. Starting for the Yankees was C.C. Sabathia and he got the loss.

So let me see if I understand this. It’s the top of the 7th inning. The Yankees are starting to get to John Lackey. The score is 4-2 after Jorge Posada drove in Melky Cabrera. Gardner is then safe on a throwing error and then Jeter singles. Bases loaded. No outs. This is it right? We’re going to put the Angels away with a big inning?

Tex strikes out. Ok, so there’s only one out. Look! A-Rod is up next with the bases loaded and only one out! Our hero will come and save the day, right?

Well clutch A-Rod hits into a double play to end the inning. What a disgrace. It’s disgraceful. An absolute disgrace. That’s A-Roid for you. We can expect more of this if the Yankees make the playoffs.

Then the Yankees have the bases loaded again in the 8th inning. Ok, Yankees get a run in and then Gardner is up with a man on first and second. Young guys have that spark about them. Maybe he’ll get a hit here. What? Huh? Girardi subs Gardner with Swisher? Swisher sucks! That was a terrible move. All we needed was a base hit and he puts in Mr. Nick I swing for the three run home run Swisher.

So what happens next? Mr. Nick I swing for the three run home run Swisher hits into a double play.

C.C. Sabathia gave up five earned runs but four of them came in the fourth inning. He seemed to have settled down after that. Still, he did give up five runs. He didn’t have a good fastball and he wasn’t going to get through that Angels team with sliders and change ups. He didn’t keep the ball down and a lot of his pitches were up.

The Yankees needed a solid effort from their ace stud today and C.C. Sabathia did not deliver.

The Yankee hitters try to do too much with men in scoring position. They’re always trying to pull the ball. They swing at bad pitches and make weak outs.

The Yankees had so many opportunities in this game to score runs.

How fitting was the game to end with Alex Rodriguez striking out?

Player of the Game: Los Angeles Angel pitcher John Lackey. He picked up his teammates after they made some dumb mistakes.

  1. What a way to end the first half.

  2. Bad game, but i don’t see the point of jumping on ARod when he has been pretty good til this game. Yeah he got out, but it was on a good play by Figgins (who i’m starting to hate). Personally if i was going to pinch hit for Gardner (i would actually keep him in for his ability to get in field singles) it would put in Damon. i don’t care about that match up crap but u have a guy who hits .280 and a guy hitting .230 that has a horrible RISP avg. No brainer rite? Instead we get swisher, the king of rally killers. Ugly loss, but hopefully we can get our game together after the break. God knows our guys need it after this series.

  3. great point dt… a-rod wasn’t good today but he’s been good all year. i didn’t like the swisher subbing either. it’s time for the yankees to get a break because they need it.

  4. Rick, the Yankees definitely need a break. I hope they clear their minds.

Figgins did make a good play DT and I have a feeling their would of been a different outcome if Gardner stayed in to bat. A-Rod has been good all year but this game he was pretty much nowhere.
