Yankees Lose To Seattle As Sabathia Struggles
The New York Yankees lost to the Seattle Mariners by a score of 8-4. Starting for the Yankees was C.C. Sabathia and he got the loss.
I was surprised at how poorly C.C. pitched because he was pitching against the Seattle Mariners. I thought he would dominate but sometimes what you think is going to happen, doesn’t. Some times the total opposite happens. Sabathia was throwing 95-97 mph but he had no command and was leaving the balls up in the zone.
Sabathia wasn’t in synch with the game because he was trying to get the ball down. It could of been the extra velocity that kept him up in the zone.
The Yankees weren’t crisp in the field with Mark Teixeira making some bad plays but I believe Ichiro forced the issue that allowed Tex to make the bad plays he did.
Hideki Matsui and Robinson Cano had great games and it’s good to see because the guys in front of them didn’t hit well. At least we know we can always have some one step up when some one steps down.
You can’t expect to win every game and the Yankees did win two out of three games from the Mariners. The Yankees just won seven games in a row so no need to panic. Also, you would think that Sabathia would pitch better with Cervelli catching but I think I made an earlier post about how it doesn’t matter who catches which pitcher at Yankee stadium because it’s a bandbox there. It’s a wind tunnel.
Player of the Game: Center Fielder Franklin Gutierrez of the Seattle Mariners.

Actually the Mariners were 1 game over .500 and Sabathia has always been up and down against them. Oh wells Sabathia has been pitching great til today, and hopefully he won’t be like Santana (who went from hot to cold).

My mistake.
The thing with Santana is that he lost his velocity on his fastball and his change up wasn’t different from his fastball. I don’t see CC losing velocity(knock on wood) It’s only one game and you can’t expect to win every game. You’re right, DT, Sabathia has been pitching lights out.
