Aceves pitches great, Jeter gets hit , Yanks win 1-0
Yankees win 1-0
I saw Derek Jeter get hit in the bottom of the 9th inning and I didn’t think it was cool. You know Jeter wants to play in the the last game at the stadium. The Yankees put Gardner in his place on first and it seemed that Gardner took off on the first pitch as a sort of revenge. With men on 1st and 2nd and A-Rod up, I knew he wouldn’t get a hit. I like this Yankees team but I don’t like A-Rod. Then Giambi gets up and swings for the fences on every swing and strikes out. Who built this team? Brian Cashman? Oh, nevermind. Cano gets up and ends it on a walk off base hit. It was a great swing by Cano because he just tried to make contact. Alfredo Aceves pitched well even though he had a man on base in almost every inning. Aceves can pitch in the major leagues and so could Phil Coke. Who needs Hughes and Kennedy when we have Aceves and Coke?
Brett Gardner put pressure on the Orioles in the bottom of the 9th because of his stolen base. It was an easy steal and I’m glad he went on the first pitch because it got the Orioles thinking about how they were going to pitch the rest of the at bat to Abreu and they walked Abreu. Gardner has a lot of potential and he has to be back next year. Speed kills and Gardner has it. Speed alters the game. Even with A-Rod failing to get a hit, it moved Gardner over to third which made it easier for the Yankees to score and they did. Yankees win again. They win 1-0.

Aceves is pitching very good but dont get too excited. Last year there was a pitcher who got called up in september and pitched just like Aceves. His name was Ian Kennedy. I do agree with you about Brett Gardner. Hes a great fielder, has a solid arm, and has tremendous speed. If he could just hit he could be the yankees next centerfielder. As of lately he is hitting a little bit better. When he first got called up he was striking out a lot and rarely getting hits. Lately hes been getting a hit once every game.

I was thinking the same thing about Aceves. He could be pitching well just like Kennedy did last year and be a total bust. The thing I like about Aveves and Coke is that they aren’t afraid to throw the breaking ball when behind in the count. About Gardner. I don’t know if you remember Bernie Williams’ first years as a player but he batted .268 in his first year and didn’t start to hit over .300 until his 5th year. The Yankees were patient with him and I hope they’ll be patient with Gardner. The Yankees will have Austin Jackson making noise soon so the outfield might get crowded depending on who the Yankees bring back. You’re right. I’m going to try not to get too excited until I see two full seasons from our younger players.

Austin Jackson will probably spend all of next year in Triple AAA. He might get called up to the yankees only if somebody get hurts or if the yankees are out of it by september. Next year is Damon and Matusi’s last year so by 2010 the outfield could be Gardner, Jackson, & Nady. Hopefully Gardner & Jackson could continue improving.
By the way do know whats gonna happen with Jonathan Albaladejo.

Not sure. The last I heard he was sent to the minors for rehabilitation assignment. The outfield of Gardner, Jackson and Nady sounds great. A proven veteran with 2 younger players.
