Things I like and hate about Joba
Joba Chamberlain
I like the fact that Joba is young and he’s a prospect from our farm system. I like his 100 mph heater and being able to brag to fans of other teams, “Yeah, Joba throws 100 mph, what does your guy have?” I like the fact that his body type resembles Babe Ruth almost like a big papa bear fatherly type. He has a cool personality as well. He seems easy to talk to and he’s media friendly. Joba seems like the type of guy that if a player has a problem, a player can talk to him. I like his fiery attitude on the mound and the passion he shows for the game. Are you going to tell me that you don’t get excited after Joba does that fist pump when after he strikes some one out? I love it. He looks like a captain in the making but..
I don’t like the idea that Joba has to be babied every year with pitch count limits. Are we going into 2009 with the same crap? I don’t like the fact that he breaks down like a cheap umbrella in a downpour. I don’t like the fact that there’s potential of greatness that might succumb to injury and I don’t like the fact that he does have a history of injuries that were red flags when other teams passed him in the draft.
If Joba is not going to be a starter or the closer, I feel he’s being wasted as a middle reliever. He has all this talent and you’re using him 1 “meaningless” inning each game. A player with this much talent can’t have that much of an impact on the game when you use him sparingly as a middle reliever.
I personally don’t think Joba should start because I want him to take Mariano’s role as the closer. That’s something else that bothers me. Mariano doesn’t seem to be letting go of that closer’s job any time soon so this always leaves me with the feeling of, “What the heck do you do with Joba?”
You know what? Things always happen for a reason and I’m sure destiny is on Joba’s side.

Joba Chamberlain will be in the bullpen the rest of this year and I’m hearing next year too!

I read that Joba will be in the bull pen next year. The Yankees will have CC too. The Yankees have a lot of bull pen depth. They will have him start next year.

The Yankees have to choose because his talents are wasted being a middle reliever.

There were some other things I missed but I didn’t have enough time because I wanted to get it out before 1:00 PM
