Live Blog – Yankee/Rays 9/03/08 Yanks win 8-4
Yankees win 8-4
Either the Yankees are playing over their head or the Rays aren’t as good as we thought they were. It might be a little of both. A-Rod played well and got some key hits and Phil Coke was impressive again. I like Coke a lot and I predict he will be a big factor in the Yankees’ future. I feel it would be great if the Yankees can finish the season on a positive note even though they are still behind the Red Sox by 7 games. Maybe the Rays are complacent and the Yankees are desperate and that could be the reasons for the outcome of these past two games. The Rays are not championship caliber and if they happen to face the Red Sox in the first round, they will get destroyed which is a shame because I hate the Red Sox.

Game over. Yankees win 8-4.
Veras just let a run in. Score is now 8-4 with 2 outs.
I didn’t know the scorer chooses who wins the game.
Gross takes second on player indifference.
Veras strikes a Ray’s batter out. Two outs.
Veras walks Gross.
Veras is in and gets one out.
Last half inning I switch to play by play
There’s that Jeter commercial. What a lame site.
Bottom of the 9th Rays are up
Inning over Last licks coming up for the Rays
*Update* Scranton beat Pawtucket 7-1 and Trenton beat the SeaDogs 2-1.
Yankees lead 8-3
Cool, home run by A-Rod and he passed some one on the all time home run list but I forgot who it was.
Ahh, it might not be a home run.
A long, deep, farther than far, shot that I don’t have a call for because I stopped calling home run balls along time ago they better not look at the replay, home, run, BAAAHHHHMB!! by A-rod!
That was strike three. There was no doubt about it.
“I” could steal on this Ray’s catcher and I have Pulmonary Hypertension.
There’s only so much a human body can do. It won’t allow you to throw over 102 mph.
This up at bat is too long. Some one do something.
Leiter is making a good point. Percival can show another player how to get confidence.
I noticed we haven’t seen that Jeter website commercial.
Top of the 9th Yankees are up
Eric Hinske is one of the most average players I’ve seen. Everything he does is average.
Now that’s a cool umpire calling an out.
A ploy by Girardi! Coke is not pitching. He just wanted to get the right hander up at bat.
3 innings of work for the Coke man. We need a nickname for him.
Bottom of the 8th Rays are up
Coke is the fiery type of player the Yankees need on this team. It looks like he has the attitude for New York unlike wuss Ian Kennedy. I see Coke being on the Yankees a long time.
Top of the 8th Yankees are up
Look at the reaction from Coke, you know he is psyched! Just like Joba. Rays don’t score.
Coke looks like Ted Lilly.
I didn’t realize they watch your pitch count in the minors. I thought it was like the majors where you just pitch and pitch.
Coke is no joke.
Bottom of the 7th Rays are up
That hit and run was not cool especially since you have the lead. Yankees don’t score.
37 percent Navarro throws runners out and he throws out A-Rod. What thaaa??
Looks like Ball Four is hurt.
Ball Four just walked A-Rod.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen Kazmir pitch. Tomorrow might the first day I watch him.
That’s a cool name for a pitcher. Ballfour.
Top of the 7th Yankees are up
I don’t think Johnny Damon knew there were two outs. He threw the ball in like he was staying in the outfield.
26th round in the draft. That’s why it took him so long to get to the bigs.
That’s the type of attitude you have to have, like Coke’s, that you should get out every one.
Phil Coke. Here we go. I love prospects.
Bottom of the 6th Rays are up
Inning over Rays are coming up.
Howell has a wicked curveball.
Wow, that first base umpire is fat.
Wait, if the Rays aren’t going to the world series, that better not mean the Red Sox will.
Top of the 6th Yankees are up
The Rays beat themselves that inning. Inning over.
That was some double play ball. The Rays are very inexperienced. Even if they do win the division, they aren’t winning the world series or even going to it.
Bases loaded. What kind of garbage miss catch was that by Cano?
I can’t believe Pavano is out of the game.
Bottom of the 5th Ray are up
Inning over Yankees lead 6-3
I don’t even like the sound of Yoga.
Scranton is winning 3-1 in the 6th inning and Trenton is winning 2-1 in the last inning. Hacker did great.
I wonder how Scranton and Trenton are doing now.
I thought this game was over and the game was decided but we have a game here fellas.
Wow, I just picked up Pavano on the waiver wire and he just gives up a 2 run bomb. That was some bomb too.
You still can’t trust Pavano. Whoever signs him will have a big headache waiting for him to get, “healthy,” after he hurts himself.
I can’t believe I might have to go see if Carl Pavano is on the waiver wire in my fantasy league.
Bottom of the 4rth Rays are up
Bradford’s a real loser.
I used to throw my rising fast ball like this Bradford guy in whiffle ball.
I had a feeling A-Rod would get an rbi there. There’s no pressure on him. Yankees lead 6-1.
I’ll tell ya, Babe Ruth got a lot out of those 2,500 hits.
That was a “dribbler” base hit by Jeter.
This Jackson is not impressive at all. He has shown me nothing.
My memory is so bad that I have to keep going to espn to see what inning it is.
Top of the 4rth Yankees are up
Inning over Yankees 5-1
I like when players hit “dribblers” to the pitcher because then I can call them, “dribblers.”
Pavano is looking good tonight and I bet every one will be on his side tomorrow morning.
It looks like a mismatch for the Rays tomorrow with Kazmir from Led Zeppelin pitching but the Yankees might sweep.
Bottom of the third Rays are up
Inning over Yankees lead 5-1
This is looking like the old Rays.
That bat almost shattered Edwin Jackson’s head. Yankees are romping the Rays. This was unexpected.
I’m going to have to make one up for tomorrow.
I actually got worried that he hit a home run because I have no home run call.
Whoa, Giambino with the “almost” home run. Yankees lead 4-1.
3-1 Yankees
No, I forgot, he makes outs when there are two outs in an inning and the Yankees are losing.
Man on second, 1 out, is this where A-Rod makes an out?
Nice hustle play by Bobby Abreu. He caught the second baseman sleeping.
I think I’ll make myself some food during the next commercial
Top of the 3rd Yankees are up.
Doesn’t matter, Rays don’t score.
That was an easy stolen base by the Ray.
The Yankees play the Red Sox the last few days of the season. That is going to be fun.
What a shame if the Yankees catch fire but the Red Sox catch fire too.
Bottom of the 2nd Rays are up
Yankees are hitting Jackson hard. 2-1 Yankees.
2-1 Yankees. Yeah ya.
Game tied 1-1. Nice rbi double for Cano.
I don’t know why the changed the name from Devil Rays.
If the Rays go to the world series, will their stadium still be half empty?
At the end of the year, the commercial of the year will be with Erin Andrews.
Top of the 2nd Yankees are up
1-0 Tampa.
I get lucky at bowling. I could bowl a 200 every once in a wile and then I can bowl a 70.
Now, Damon, didn’t make a catch. I bet Upton would of caught that.
That catch by Upton wasn’t “that” great.
Kay, the thing you have to be concerned about with Pavano is if he’s going to get hurt or not.
Bottom of the 1st Tampa is up
Well that strikeout by A-Rod with a man in scoring position didn’t surprise any of us. I’ve become numb to his un clutchness.
That was an easy stolen base by Bobby Bye Bye.
I didn’t know Bobby Bye Bye was batting under .300.
I remember when Edwin Jackson was supposed to be great in fantasy and I lost confidence in him and now he “is” pitching great.
Inning 1 Yankees are up
Pavano is a hero now until his next injury.
A person named Ryan I know who’s works for the state and is my medicaid guy, told me he couldn’t believe I blog the whole game and him and his wife were reading this yesterday. So if you and your wife are reading this now, Hi Ryan and his wife.
I tried downloading the new 90210 on the internet and all I hear is noise, no video. Ah, I’m not “into” that show. Come on, you know how it works.
I’m wondering if I should put espn on instead of the yesnetwork.
I just kept looking at tvguide.com because I thought the game wasn’t on the yesnetwork because they were just talking about some stadium nonsense on the YesNetwork.
Some one from nomaas just left a message on here in the last live blog saying that nomaas is the best blog on the net. It’s really not. The blog is terrible. The forums are entertaining however.
This is not important. A-rod Stats. We want to see him win in the clutch.
Pre Game
Going to eat something. Download some tv shows I missed and I’ll be back at 6:30 PM.

This might be the day the Yankees start falling out of the playoff race with the Red Sox winning.
September 3rd, 2008 at 8:47 PM
The Yankees could never count on Pavano especially next year.
September 3rd, 2008 at 9:59 PM
What a trick by Girardi. Good job by Coke.
September 3rd, 2008 at 10:53 PM
That was just ballin. That A-Rod home run was killed and i was glad to see the replay used just to see it with my own eyes.
September 3rd, 2008 at 10:57 PM
That was an important home run A-Rod hit in the ninth cause Rays have so many come back wins, especially at home. Even though Mariano would have came in but its still important.
September 3rd, 2008 at 11:14 PM
The instant replay was fast. I thought it was going to be like football where they take a long time to review a play. The Rays have a lot of come backs and it was great to see the Yankees put them away.
September 3rd, 2008 at 11:17 PM
I haven’t followed the Rays and I didn’t know about all of their come back wins but they didn’t seem to play with any fire tonight. It could of been because I was a little tired and I was the one who had no fire. The replay was easy and fast. I think this was the first time it was used in baseball.
