Live Blog – Yankee/Tigers 9/01/08 Yankees win 13-9
If I’m not mistaken, some writers were upset that Jeter didn’t talk to the media after the Yankees lost yesterday. He talked to them today after a win. This Tiger team is terrible. You can’t be impressed beating such a bad team. They do have a great 1 through 4 in their lineup but as we know with the Yankees, hitting doesn’t buy championships. Phil Coke looked great today. I hope he sticks around. Let’s see how A-Rod and friends do with Tampa tomorrow. It could get ugly. They’re playing at Tampa and the Yankees have been playing inconsistent all year. The Rays have been playing consistently great all year. If you’re a fan that still has hope, the Yankees have to sweep the Rays.

Yankees win 13-9
Britton gets the last out. Game over.
This Tiger team is hopeless. At least the Yankees have a lot of hope with their young guys.
2 outs. Tigers are down to their last out.
1 out walk.
There are a whole bunch of people eating food outside but I’m not hungry.
Britton gets the first out.
Last half inning I go play by play.
I’m looking at the clock and this was one long game. This game will last almost 4 hours.
Bottom of the 9th. Last licks for the Tigers.
Yankees don’t score.
Nady reminds me of Paul O’Neil with his professional attitude.
Top of the 9th Yankees are up
Damaso pitches a nice inning. Detroit doesn’t score.
Can you imagine the havoc the Rays are going to wreak on the Yankee’s pitching?
Bottom of the 8th Tigers are up
Yankees don’t score. Yankees lead 13-9
I thought momentum would carry over when you play the next team but when you face great pitching, momentum dies.
I’m going to say that the player of the game so far for the Yankees is Alex Rodriguez.
Top of the 8th Yankees are up.
AWESOME breaking ball to strike out Cabrera. Inning over.
Coke has an awesome breaking ball.
Wild pitch by Coke. Ordonez on second.
Giambi, please don’t play with Ordonez’s lock’s.
He gives up his first base hit to Ordonez.
He has a real smooth delivery.
Coke just retired his second batter. 2 outs.
Aceves did great yesterday and now it’s time for Coke.
Phil Coke strikes out the first batter he faces in the big leagues. One out.
Cool. Phil Coke is pitching. His first pitch in the big leagues.
Bottom of the 7th Tigers are up
Yankees don’t score
The Yankees are an older team but they have a lot of young guys they can play.
Top of the 7th Yankees are up
Tigers don’t score.
If the Yankees get swept by the Rays, the whole team is going to give up on the season.
Bottom of the 6th Tigers are up
Inning over. Yankees lead 13-9
Cool. I was wrong. Jeter with a 2 out single that scores two runs. Yankees lead 13-9.
Here’s the scene. Bases loaded, 2 outs and Jeter is up. My guess is that the Yankees won’t score because nothing has been going their way this year and I see no difference with this at bat.
The Tigers have terrible fielders.
I’m hearing a lot of new tv shows start tonight. I wonder what they are.
Top of the 6th Yankees are up
Inning over Yankees lead 11-9.
11-9 Yankees. Don’t be surprised if the Yankees lose because they gave up on the season, never mind this game.
Edwar is done for the day. Have a seat boy.
A-Rod has to stop biting his nails. I don’t know why the YesNetwork keeps showing that.
Edwar is 27. This is it for him. He has to do well if he wants to have a pitching career.
This is a recipe for disaster. Edwar Ramirez is still in the game.
Bottom of the 5th Tigers are up
Yankees don’t score. 11-8 they lead.
Yankees just made two easy outs. It looks like their spirit is broken.
Top of the 5th Yankees are up
Inning is over though. Yankees lead 11-8
Inning over, GAME over, world SERIES over, Yankees win! THAAA YankEEEs whehhhhn! I miss that.
Catching is a tough job. I used to catch.
This Larish guy has a dork batting stance.
You know Joe wants to take Edwar out. You can see it.
No Flaherty, you are right, this is not a laugher anymore.
Edwar is just stinking it up.
Heh, maybe we don’t want Edwar pitching against the Rays tomorrow.
Wow! Edwar just gave up a 2 run home run. It’s 11-8! What the heck is going on around here??
11-6. Yankees can’t lose this game, could they?
What the? Ponson laid a big egg. Ponson is out. He just gave up another run. 11-5
2 run home run given up by Ponson. Score 11-4. The Yankees can’t lose this game.
My mistake, it was shot off of his pitching hand.
That ball was shot right off of Ponson’s head.
Bottom of the 4rth Tigers are up.
4 pitch inning. Yankees don’t score but still lead 11-2.
Cano has great fielding talent it’s just that he’s nonchalant at times.
I could go for one of those hamburgers right now.
Top of the 4rth Yankees are up.
Yankees 11-2.
Cano made a good play. He actually did! Tigers don’t score.
Bottom of the 3rd. Tigers are up.
Can you imagine if the Yankees lose this game? Inning over.
11-2 Yankees. Jeter with the sacrifice.
A-Rod has 4 rbi’s. Yankees lead 10-2. I wonder when Girardi starts replacing players. Probably in the 7th inning.
This game is disgusting. Yankees are winning 9-3 and people are barbecuing at my house!
10 hits already, it’s only the third inning.
The reason the Yankees are dominating, Flaherty, is because the Tigers stink.
HaHa. Babe Ruth is a real man.
The Yankees are eating the Tiger pitching alive.
Top of the 3rd. Yankees are up.
Inning over. Yankees 8-2.
Bases loaded, 2 outs with Ordonez up. I don’t like it.
Joe Girardi is getting restless in the dugout.
This song just popped in my head… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6-JhdFp5e0
Ponson better go at least 6 innings. We don’t want the bull pen to waste it’s arms with Tampa next.
Long bomb by Sheffield. Steroids go a long way. 8-2 Yankees.
Bottom of the 2nd. Tigers are up
Poor Verlander. All those runs are charged to him. Inning over. Yankees 8-1
What the? Why is this Tiger pitcher licking his fingers?
Another run by the Yankees. Let’s save some for tomorrow boys! 8-1 Yankees. Matsui with the rbi.
All this hitting should give the Yankees confidence against the Rays.
Tigers shouldn’t boo Verlander. The fielding is a disgrace for the Tigers.
Another run scores. 7-1 Yankees. Nady with the rbi single and Verlander is done for the day.
I look forward to seeing the future Mets ace Kazmir pitch against the Yankees. Wait, what? lol.
Big game tomorrow. Garza has some good numbers. Great pitching matchup is right.
If I was Verlander, I’d walk right off the field. The fielding for the Tigers is a big joke. Yankees lead 6-1.
C’mon A-Rod. The Yankees are winning. It’s time for a hit.
Dayem, the Tigers stink. They need to get a whole bunch of new fielders.
I’m not interested in this conversation about McNally.
Al Kaline looks like George Steinbrenner.
A long, far, deep, incredible, home, run, BAHHHHMB!! by Johnny Damon Yankees 5-1.
3 pitches and he is done.
Detroit still loves Pudge. Huge standing O.
I had no breakfast. I’m looking at a Taylor Ham and Bagel sandwich soon.
Top of the 2nd Yankees are up
Inning over. Yankees lead 4-1.
Just before that rbi, I was going to say that Ponson is actually auditioning for another team because he won’t be starting next year for the Yankees.
Tigers score. Rbi by Ordonez. Yankees 4-1.
These Tigers “are” a bunch of lazy bums.
The memo on Polanco looks says steroids to me.
Bottom of the 1st Tigers are up
Inning over.
4-0 Yankees. Nice base hit by Matsui.
These Tigers players are just lame. Yes, they aren’t very athletic.
Yankees are winning 3-0. This looks like a potential blow out.
Last year I had Matsuzaka on my fantasy team and I didn’t like it when he pitched against the Yankees so I don’t draft Red Sox players anymore.
Great. Two rbi’s for my fantasy team and the Yankees are winning.
Bases loaded and A-Rod is up. The Yankees aren’t losing so there’s not as much pressure on him. I need him to do something. I have him on my fantasy team.
Heh, Ordonez should of caught that.
If Jeter didn’t walk, Damon was out by a mile trying to steal second.
That guy with the loud speaker voice. I heard that yesterday as well.
The Tigers spent money and lost as well.
Game Time Top of the 1st. Yankees are up
————————–
153 hits. Wow. I don’t see 200 this year. He’ll need almost 50 in the month of September.
I wonder how close Jeter is to 200 hits this year. Let me look.
It’s a road trip from h*ll
The Yankees need a hot blonde sitting at that desk. Like that girl on cbs.sportsline.
Then the Angels? Holy smoke.
Why can’t we play the Mariners every day. Heh.
Tampa. That’s going to be real tough.
So Joba will be in the bull pen.
Our boy Phil Coke is on the 40 man roster.
10 Game road trip. Whoa.
Happy Labor Day! Yankees Tigers.

One game against the Tigers.
September 1st, 2008 at 12:49 PM
What a waste of time this blog is. The Yankees are going nowhere and you’re blogging about the game? This is like some one blogging about Hillary Clinton winning the election.
September 1st, 2008 at 1:07 PM
Go Yankees.
September 1st, 2008 at 1:40 PM
Tampa Bay owns the sorry Yankees and by Wed. the Yanks will be D.O.A.
September 1st, 2008 at 1:52 PM
The Yankees are going to wipe the floor with the Rays!
September 1st, 2008 at 1:53 PM
ray has a good point. HaHa.
September 1st, 2008 at 2:50 PM
You could never count the Yankees on winning. The Tigers are slowly closing the gap.
September 1st, 2008 at 4:27 PM
Offensively the Yankees have wiped the floor with the Tigers but their pitching has been offensive.
September 2nd, 2008 at 3:51 PM
Which young guys are you talking about? Is it the young pitchers that Cashman is so high on that stunk so bad at the beginning of the year? Hughes? Kennedy? How can you count on these guys? They not only pitched bad when given the opportunity but ended up on the DL both for long periods of time and in both seasons so far. There are so many guys possibly leaving this year the Yanks certainly don’t have enough quality guys on the farm to take their places. People are worried about “who is going to throw out the first pitch next year”. PLEASE!
September 2nd, 2008 at 6:46 PM
Kennedy and Hughes can’t be counted on because of their history of injuries. Coke looked great last night. I think Dugout really had nothing to talk about so they decided to post just to post.
