Live Blog – Yankee/Blue Jays game 8/30/08 Yanks lose
Yankees lose 7-6
The Yankees had this game. When Cano made that error, it broke Rasner’s spirit and he fell apart. Then A-Rod comes up in the last inning with 2 on and no outs and grounds into a double play. Still, Cano’s error was the turning point of the game. I’m really getting sick and tired of his nonchalant play.

Ransom flies out. Game over. Yankees lose.
What tha FAAAAAH!! He hits into a double play! 11th double play this month! I don’t know who’s more of a disgrace, him or Cano!!
3-2 count for A-Rod.
Man on 1st and 2nd with no outs and choke artist is up
Bobby Bye Bye walked and look who’s coming up to bat. Alex Rodriguez.
Bobby Bye Bye is up.
Looong single by Jeter. Looked like a home run. Man on 1st no outs.
Jeter leads the inning off.
Oh, A-Rod gets up this inning.
Top of the 9th Blue Jays are up
Veras gets a ground out. Here we go. To the last inning.
Man on 1st and 2nd with Jose Veras in the game. 2 outs.
Since it’s the last inning and it’s a close game, I’m going to have to do what other loser bloggers do, that’s describe every part of the game.
I’ll tell ya, I went to derekjeter’s ford challenge website and there’s nothing on it. It’s just lame.
Jose Reyes is coming in the game to pitch for the Yankees. That’s what Michael Kay said. It was a “little” funny.
Bottom of the 8th Yankees are up
Doesn’t matter. Damon grounds out. Inning over. Yankees don’t score.
And what did my boy just do? Steal second. Man he’s awesome.
I can’t believe what Gardner just did, he’s fixing the dirt in front of him. He’s telling them he’s going to steal.
That’s right. My boy Gardner is in for Pudge at first. Let’s see a steal here.
Cano struck out and got booed. That’s expected.
Downs just threw a wiffle ball type of curve. That was the most incredible curve ball I’ve ever seen.
Scott Downs has some incredible numbers.
Top of the 8th Blue Jays are up
Inning over. Blue Jays lead 7-6.
Jays just scored on a slow roller. Wow. This game looked so easy for the Yankees a few innings ago. All it takes is one play to change every thing. Jays lead 7-6.
Edwar just let a run in. Tie game. What a disgrace Cano is. If he didn’t make that bone headed play, Rasner would still have confidence and still be in the game pitching brilliantly.
Joe does know his stuff. He knows that Demaso can’t be trusted so he takes him out.
Desmaso is not a real Yankee and players that aren’t real Yankees can’t be trusted. Man on first and second with no outs. Do I feel comfortable with Demaso in this situation? Do I ever feel comfortable with him on the mound?
Bruney lets Vernon Wells on base and now Girardi comes to take him out. I feel like a loser blogger that types every single thing that happens in the game.
Bottom of the 7th Yankees are up
The Yankees don’t score. 6-5 Yankees.
This pitcher of the Blue Jays has to cut his hair. He looks like a mess.
Nady is having a bad day at the plate. He’s in a slump.
What the? What a lame strikeout by A-Rod.
Top of the 7th Blue Jays are up
Bruney gets out of the inning with a strikeout. Yankees 6-5.
Bruney just let in 2 runs. The game is now 6-5 and it’s all because of disgraceful Robinson Cano. I haven’t done a disgraceful player of the game for the live blog yet but I’ll tell ya, Cano is a number 1 candidate.
Brian Bruney is 26 years old and throws 96 mile per hour. I like this guy.
It looks as though Joe’s trust in Bruney paid off with the first batter. Bruney struck him out.
Bruney is in a tough spot. No outs, bases loaded.
Bases loaded. No outs and even Girardi senses it. He’s a smart manager. He knows that Rasner is out of it mentally because of the error that should of been a double play. Rasner is out of the game.
No outs and Rasner is in trouble. You can see it in his face. He’s done.
Now a run scores with a base hit. That’s it. Show Cano’s face. He’s shameful. 6-3 .
Holy crap, people kill for a foul ball.
Robinson Cano. Pay ATTENTION. What a terrible throw. It COULD of been a double play but no, since you were in your own world, man on 1st and third with NO out.
Rasner has a really low pitch count. Joe should leave him in there for a complete game. Save the arms in the bull pen. This is a gift you’re getting from Rasner. His pitch count is very low.
Bottom of the 6th Yankees are up
Yankees don’t score. They lead 6-2.
I wonder why I was feeling tired. Jeter was at bat for 9 minutes.
25th stolen base by Damon. Very impressive.
They’re talking about Reggie Jackson on the air and they show Reggie and Cashman and you see Cashman give Reggie a face like, what could we do, they’re talking about us.
Pudge made an out but he gets a pass because he hit a home run. He’s allowed to make 6 more outs before we expect him to get a hit again.
Top of the 6th Blue Jays are up
9 pitches for Rasner. He’s making it look very easy. Blue Jays don’t score
Bottom of the 5th Yankees are up
Inning over but Yankees increase the lead to 6-2
Godzilla strikes! Big two out rbi double. 2 runs score. Yankees lead 6-2.
I was wrong about that at bat. XMan pops out.
Bases are loaded for the X Man. I have a good feeling about this at bat.
A-Rod flew out with 2 men on base.
A-Bomb is up. Not A-Bomb because he hits bombs but because he bombs in key situations.
Can you imagine if the Yankees make the playoffs with all the injuries and the losing at the end of some of the games? That would be incredible.
Joba sitting next to Pettitte in the dug out. Just don’t take steroids Joba.
I didn’t know the Blue Jays had 100 million dollar pay roll. Pretty disgraceful considering they are only 2 games over .500.
Top of the 5th Blue Jays are up
I went to the John for not even a minute and the inning is over. 8 pitch inning for the Razzle. Blue Jays don’t score.
Bottom of the 4rth Yankees are up
Inning over but the Yankees lead 4-2.
Oh yeah, I-Rod still stinks.
I’m going to have to go look at my old summaries where I did the home run call because they kind of stink now. I used to be so good at it.
Back to back, farther than far, so deep that it makes you cry like a little guy, home, run, BAAHHMB!! by Ivan Rodriguez. Yankees lead 4-2.
A long, deep, farther than far, home, run, BIZZZZOMB! by Robinson Cano! Yankees lead 3-2.
I thought Matsui had a home run there.
Top of the 4rth Blue Jays are up
Inning over but the Blue Jays scored 2. Game is tied 2-2.
Uh oh, a 2 run homer by Vernon Wells. Game tied. So much for me feeling Rasner having it today. I was feeling a shut out. Thank god for 2 outs because Rasner is starting to lose his confidence.
I’d take those sunglasses of Al’s and sell it on ebay.
After this game is over, I’m taking a break and going to relax all day.
Bottom of the 3rd Yankees are up
Yankees don’t score. Still lead 2-0
Bobby bye bye with the stole base
Giambi, that mustache has to go. You look like Hitler
Jeter will get 3,000 hits easily. That will ensure his entrance into the hall of fame.
Top of the 3rd Blue Jays are up
8 in a row retired by the Razzle. Blue Jays don’t score.
I’m having a good feeling about the Dazzler today. He’s looking very good. The Yankees should win.
The Razzle Dazzle is looking very good. He just struck some one out.
Bottom of the 2nd Yankees are up
Yankees don’t score. Still 2-0 Yankees on top
The Yankees better not resign this bum I-Rod. He better not break anything either because whatever he breaks is too good for him.
I have a feeling that Pudge is going to make an out here.
Cano just raised his average to .270. That’s gets me because I have him on fantasy and you need players to get hot and never got hot for me.
If Matsui is hurting, why not start a younger player?
Top of the 2nd Blue Jays are up
That was a real quick inning. Blue Jays don’t score. Rasner has thrown only 14 pitches through 2 innings.
The Dazzler should feel at ease now that the Yankees are up 2-0
Erin Andrews. Now that’s all woman for you.
Inning 1 Yankees are up
Inning over but the Yankees are up 2-0
What a shame it would be if the Yankees played extremely well the rest of this year but don’t make the playoff because Boston and Tampa play just as well.
Giambino with the rbi single. Drives in A-Rod. Yankees are up 2-0
Kay, what’s with all these dumb stats you keep giving us. Please shut up.
Breaking news! A-Rod got a hit! A-Rod got a hit! Yankees scored a run!
King Kong couldn’t hit that pitch.
I thought Abreu had that too.
Yes you send Jeter.
Cashman really has to be fired. I’m sick and tired of him signing washed up veterans to take up space in our farm system
Inning 1 Jays are up
Jays don’t score
I don’t think I’ve ever seen that snap throw work
Rasner is looking good so far.
Pre Game
Al Leiter looks like he just got out of bed.
You have to give Bobby Bye Bye credit, he has been good.
This Parrish guy, the Yankees should rock him with their 100 million dollar lineup.
I really don’t feel like reading the Star Ledger every day reading about the Mets in the playoffs while the Yankees are not.
I can’t believe the Mets traded Kasmir for some loser.
Rasner is only an average pitcher. He won’t make a difference.
I went to that Jeter website, it’s pretty lame.
I don’t like the lineup. I’d like a mixture of youth in there.
Carl Pavano got support but all you have to do is pitch well to get support.
Game time starts at 1:05 PM. I’ll be back at 12:30 PM

Matsui just hit a double!
August 30th, 2008 at 2:50 PM
The Yankees have won this game. It’s over to me.
August 30th, 2008 at 2:52 PM
This should be an easy win for Darrell Rasner. The Blue Jays aren’t as good.
August 30th, 2008 at 2:53 PM
Let’s go Rasner.
August 30th, 2008 at 2:56 PM
Who forgot to invite me to this party? Yankees are kicking Blue Jay butt.
August 30th, 2008 at 2:57 PM
What’s up Rick.
August 30th, 2008 at 2:57 PM
Hey Rick.
August 30th, 2008 at 3:09 PM
That was a long at bat.
August 30th, 2008 at 3:11 PM
It was. The only thing I don’t like about baseball is the long at bats.
August 30th, 2008 at 3:13 PM
I have a lot of nfl draft work to do on my website.
August 30th, 2008 at 3:20 PM
Bad Cano. Just bad.
August 30th, 2008 at 3:20 PM
What’s going through his mind?
August 30th, 2008 at 3:21 PM
That was a bad play. I just stopped by to say hi. I’ll see you guys later.
August 30th, 2008 at 3:25 PM

August 30th, 2008 at 3:40 PM
I can’t believe the Yankees might lose this game.
August 30th, 2008 at 4:12 PM
It looks like they are going to lose.
August 30th, 2008 at 4:18 PM
There’s still hope in this game. We have to hope that A-Rod doesn’t get up!
August 30th, 2008 at 4:44 PM
Tough loss. A-Rod blew it but Cano blew it more.
August 30th, 2008 at 5:09 PM
Where the heck is the Manager here? How do you let a 6 – 2 lead get away with the seson on the line. Im really getting discusted. Nice job Joe allmost as good as Cano. Maybe the minors could straighten out his arm along with that shit-eatten grin. This was the worst Yankee lost I can remember
August 30th, 2008 at 5:20 PM
Baby, you’re right, Cano blew the game but Rasner fell apart as well. Pete, Joe actually tried everything he could so the Yankees wouldn’t lose. I can’t lay blame on Joe Girardi for this one. I lay the blame on Cano and A-Rod. No outs, 1st and 2nd and you hit into a double play. I don’t know this keeps happening to him but it does. I blame the game on Cano however.
August 30th, 2008 at 6:57 PM
It really wasn’t Joe Girardi’s fault. It was Cano. He should have at least made one out. This just isnt the yankees year. If it was the yankees would have won that game and a buch of other ones. But A-Rod is really getting to me. Its one thing if he got an out and maybe moved the runners up but to get a double play and kill the rally. Why cant he come through in cluth like he did last year. I have a feeling A-Rod will get a lot of big hits and maybe a few walk off hits by the end of this year. They will all come when the yankees are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.
August 30th, 2008 at 7:29 PM
The Yanks have to either dump Cano in a trade or get a manager (like Larry Bowa) who can handle him. Girardi is letting this kid walk all over him with his cavalier attitude. Girardi doesn’t have the guts to bench Cano after that error.
August 30th, 2008 at 8:31 PM
You are right Jose. A-Rod will get a lot of big hits when the Yankees are out of contention because there will be no pressure on him.
August 30th, 2008 at 8:39 PM
Great point baby. Cathy, it’s hard to bench a player when that player isn’t, “your” guy. Cano was here before Girardi was manager and it’s hard for any manager to bench a star player when he the player doesn’t perform well because the manager never disciplined him before. I’m guessing it’s a funny feeling a manager has trying to discipline a star player. If Justin Christian or Gardner makes a mistake, Joe would bench them in a second because they are, “Girardi’s” guys and they are new to him and he’s teaching them.
August 30th, 2008 at 10:49 PM
Rasner should have been pulled after the error. Giradi was fooled. He was lulled into a false sense of security because of the way he was pitching today but he simply doesn’t have the stuff to put down a lineup once mistakes are made behind him. Rasner is not Joba.
August 30th, 2008 at 11:41 PM
Nice point hitman. It was first and third with no one out and Girardi was fooled because Rasner had such a low pitch count and he was pitching really well. You could tell by the look on Rasner’s face that he was done. Joe took him out one batter too late.
August 31st, 2008 at 12:58 PM
What’s with the Girardi and Gardner love fest??? Isn’t Gardner the guy who looked like an idiot in the 9th a couple of games ago, getting picked off of first when the Yanks looked like they might be able to make a comeback. Speed yes, Brains??? Girardi taking pitchers out 1 batter too late has been going on ALL season, why should today be different? Great job of pulling Giambi out for defensive reasons again. It would of been nice to have him at the plate in the ninth. Girardi couldn’t fire up a match-I.E. When Pedroia was way off the base line going to 3rd the other day against Boston and the umpire called him safe- a real manager would of went wild and got tossed to try to fire up his team- Girardi simply accepted it like he is accepting this losing season. The ghosts of Yankee Stadium deserved a better finale than this! Not putting ALL the blame on Girardi, Cashman has never really done a thing for the Yanks yet still has his job???
August 31st, 2008 at 1:03 PM
Cashman is very much to blame for this mess. Gardner is still raw but if he wasn’t a rookie, I’d be all over him. Girardi has made his share of mistakes but the Yankees have been injured all year and for some reason, the Yankees aren’t out of it even though they are.
August 31st, 2008 at 6:05 PM
It wasnt Gardner who got caught stealing on the game against Kansas City it was Justin Christain.
August 31st, 2008 at 6:51 PM
Oh yes, I remember that. When he stumbled and fell. Good correction Jose. I thought it was Gardner myself.
