Yankees overwhelm the Orioles and win 9-4

The good news. The Yankees won. The bad news. The Red Sox won as well.

Yankees win

The Yankees played well tonight. There’s nothing you can complain about. Too bad Moose didn’t get the win. I really like the way Molina calls a game and he’s great at throwing runners out. Jeter got his 2,500th hit but I’m not going to say congrats because that’s corny. He should easily make 3,000 hits but I bet he does it in 4 years and not 3. Is this Cody Ransom kidding me or what? 2 at bats, 2 home runs? Holy smoke.

The Yankees won a close scoring game over the Baltimore Orioles by a score of 5-4. Starting for the Yankees was Mike Mussina and he gave up 4 earned runs on 9 hits in 6 innings of work for the no decision. Jose Veras pitched a perfect 7th inning and got the win because the Yankees scored 2 runs in the top of the 8th inning. Demaso Marte got two batters out in the 8th inning then hit a batter and was taken out of the game in favor of Mariano Rivera. Mariano pitched 1.1 perfect innings for his 29th save. He got the save because he came in the game before the Yankees tacked on runs.

The hitting stars of the game for the Yankees worth mentioning were right-fielder Bobby Abreu, catcher Jose Molina, and second baseman Robinson Cano. Abreu had a great night going 5 for 5 with 2 runs scored and 1 rbi. Molina went 1 for 4 with 1 run scored along with a home run and Cano went 2 for 4 with 1 run scored and 1 rbi along with a home run.

I have no Disgraceful Player of the Game because every one played well for the Yankees but if I was an Oriole fan, I’d pick the fans in the stadium because I heard a, “Let’s go Yankees” chant. You can’t allow that in your home ball park.

  2. It was an all around nice win. I don’t see the Red Sox folding however.
