Yankees lose to the Angels 4-3
Yankees Lose
The New York Yankees lost to the Los Angeles Angels by a score of 4-3. Starting for the Yankees was Andy Pettitte an he gave up 3 earned runs on 10 hits in 7 innings of work for the no decision. Replacing Pettitte to start the 8th inning was Damaso Marte and he gave up 1 earned run on 1 hit in 1.1 innings for the loss. Mariano Rivera came in the game in the 9th and pitched to one batter and on the first pitch, Chone Figgins singled in Howie Kendrick and the Yankees lost.
The hitting stars of the game for the Yankees worth mentioning were DH Johnny Damon who went 2 for 4 with 1 run scored and third baseman Alex Rodriguez who went 2 for 3 with 1 run scored and 1 rbi.
The Disgraceful Player of the Game was Joe Girardi because he is the head of this train wreck. He didn’t argue enough when A-Rod was safe at third and he didn’t argue Christian’s strikeout. He left Damaso Marte in too long as well. Not only is that a disgrace, but a nightmare.

The Angels are better than the Yankees. The Yankees can’t compete with the big boys yet.

I wouldn’t blame Joe Girardi on this one. Betemit made a bone head play on the last play of the game and Cano is so damn lazy.

Well that’s it Rick, they should be more prepared and I was going to pick Betemit but people at the Jersey site picked Girardi.

This was a hell of a loss. The Yanks are only 4 back in the wild card and they have a series coming up against Boston so it’s not impossible for them to come back from this but it’s not looking pretty. The Yanks have not even come close to looking strong for more than a week and a half. The 8 game winning streak was their best effort. It’s just pitiful watching them.

I agree with you on the Girardi decision not to bring in Mariano to start the 9th with the game tied. I was there today, and was expecting Mo to take the mound after seeing the Angels use Krod to pitch their half of the ninth. Girardi should have countered with Rivera to protect the lead.
