Are the Yankees hiding a serious Joba injury?

Are the Yankees hiding something?mikelupica.jpg

We don’t know if Joba Chamberlain did serious damage to his shoulder the other night, don’t know if he is lost for the season. But if the Yanks were bowled over by their great and good fortune Tuesday, they sure weren’t acting that way. – Mike Lupica NY Daily News

If Chamberlain’s injury report was negative, the Yankees would of been in a hurry to report the news but that doesn’t seem to be the case here.

  1. There’s no question in my mind that, had the Yanks received good news, they would have shared it. There is the possibility that the injury is more muscular in nature, and not as serious as a tendon or ligament issue, but I’m never encouraged when players visit Dr. Andrews. It might not be very serious and the Yanks might go ahead and shut down Joba for a while or the rest of the year to play it safe. I’m still checking Pete Abraham’s blog every hour for word on Joba.

  2. The Yanks have been using the silent treatment for this entire season. Every time there’s a big injury Girardi keeps mum, or lies, either one. Then, when it turns out that the injury is putting someone on the DL for quite some time, everyone goes nuts. If this is the same case with Joba, it’s hard to say that the Yanks have any chance. I wish they would just break the news to us already.
Chris Britton is being called up so another move has to be made to make room for him and my guess is Joba on the DL.

  3. I’ve been out of it all day because I was at program. I’ll be checking news sources as well.

  4. There’s just about two months left in the regular season so the Yankees can’t be counted out yet. If Joba is hurt, count the Yankees out unless some miracle happens and one of the minor league pitchers that gets called up later this month does well.
