The Yankees lose 8-6 to the Rangers
The New York Yankees lost to the Texas Rangers by a score of 8-6. Starting for the Yankees was Andy Pettitte and he did not pitch well giving up 5 earned runs on 6 hits in 5 innings of work for the loss. Replacing Pettitte to start the 6th inning was David Robertson and he gave up 2 earned runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. Following Robertson was Brian Bruney and he gave up 1 earned run on 1 hit in .1 of an inning. Jose Veras pitched a perfect 8th inning. The hitting stars of the game for the Yankees worth mentioning were left-fielder Johnny Damon who went 1 for 3 with 1 rbi and first baseman Richie Sexson who went 2 for 4 with 1 run scored and 4 rbi’s.
Player of the game: Jose Veras for taking care of his teammate Alex Rodriguez by hitting Josh Hamilton after the Rangers hit A-Rod twice.
The Disgraceful Player of the Game was Mr. Non Clutch Alex Rodriguez who went 0-3 with 1 run scored but grounded out into a double play to end the game like a Derek Jeter rally killing double play. Not only is that a disgrace, but a nightmare.

Today’s game was just painful, Sean. The Yanks walked seven batters, horrible–21 in the last three games. One hit with RISP–Sexson’s grand slam. You’re absolutely right, A-Rod was bad in the clutch, and he’s hitting 90 points below last year’s numbers with RISP. I love The Captain, but he’s been a dead spot at times in the #2 hole. I still think he’s played hurt for much of the year, though I don’t know for sure, but regardless he’s just not doing it, and it’s hurt the team. God for Veras sticking up for A-Rod, and Robertson’s outing would have been better if Bruney could have worked out of the jam. Robertson fanned four, but the walks hurt him and the staff as a whole. Pettite has been very streaky this year, and just terrible his last two starts. It couldn’t have come at a worse time.
Joba’s injury and the uncertainty about how bad it might be have left a knot in my stomach.

Sean I don’t know where you found this poster but he knows his stuff. When Veras hit Hamilton he barely hit him because it looked like it hit his shirt.
