Yankees lose to the Rangers 9-5

Yankees lose 9-5 because of walk offjobahurt.jpg

The New York Yankees lost to the Texas Rangers by a score of 9-5 because of a walk off grand slam by right-fielder Marlon Byrd. Starting for the Yankees was Joba Chamberlain and he gave up 5 earned runs on 8 hits for the no decision. It wasn’t his best effort but he left the game with a stiff left shoulder. Replacing Joba was Edwar Ramirez and he pitched 1.1 perfect innings. Following Ramirez to start the 7th inning was Brian Bruney and he pitched 1.1 scoreless innings. Demaso Marte gave up a walk off grand slam for the loss. He gave up 4 earned runs on 2 hits.

The hitting stars of the game for the Yankees worth mentioning were first baseman Jason Giambi who went 3 for 4 with 1 run scored and 2 rbi’s along with a home run and Xavier Nady who went 2 for 4 with 1 run scored and 1 rbi along with a home run. What a loss. I was really into the game when Nady hit a home run and I thought the Yankees’ magic would continue.

That was the biggest loss of the year. The loss hurt my feelings.

  2. The Yankees may have lost the game tonight, but the power of the stache was never more apparent. Giambi only blasted a homer into the upper deck after savvy fans donned fake moustaches and held up a “Bring Back the Stache” sign.

  3. Don’t let it hurt your feelings Freak. It’s only a game but the Yankees blew this one. Tampa and Boston both lost.

The Yankees could be gaining ground on Boston and Tampa and it’s frustrating when every one loses and no ground is gained.

  5. Very “crushing” loss last night by the Yankees !!!

In my view, after Marte walked the bases loaded, Girardi should have brought David Robertson into the game to pitch to the right-handed hitting, Marlon Byrd [and, that's not a second guess - it was my opinion at the time].

David Robertson has really been impressive in his brief time in the bullpen; and, I feel he should be elevated to the role of 8th inning [bridge to Mariano] set-up reliever. Yesterday would have been a great “test” for the rookie Robertson.

Also, hopefully, Joba does not have a serious injury. That would be a major loss that the Yankees may not be able to recover from this season.

    Take care, Sean
