The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees won a close game over Buffalo Bisons by a score of 5-4 and they won in the bottom of the 9th inning. Starting for Scranton was Daniel McCutchen and he pitched a good game giving up 1 earned run on 6 hits in 6 innings of work for the no decision. Replacing McCutchen to start the 7th inning was Kei “I can’t even pitch well in the minor leagues” Igawa and he gave up 3 earned runs on 3 hits in 2 innings but got the win. The hitting stars of the game for Scranton worth mentioning were center fielder Jason Lane, DH Eric Duncan and catcher JD Closser. Lane went 2 for 4 with 1 run scored and 1 rbi along with a big, juicy, MA MA MA MA MA MA MA, MY EEE Sharona by the Knack hurt your feelings type of home, run, BOMB! Duncan went 3 for 4 with 1 run scored and Closser went 1 for 4 with 1 run scored and 3 rbi’s along with a most needed, most anticipated, like a little cha cha China Girl By David Bowie type of home, run, MOOOOON shot!! Scranton won on a sacrifice fly by Chris Basak.

Double A

The Trenton Thunder put the Portland Sea Dogs back in the sea and won by a score of 6-1. Starting for Trenton was pitching sensation Eric Hacker and he pitched well giving up 1 earned run on 6 hits in 7 innings of work for the win. Replacing Hacker to start the 8th inning was Michael Gardner and he pitched a perfect 8th inning. Following Gardner was Jose Valdez and he pitched a scoreless 9th inning. The hitting stars of the game for Trenton worth mentioning were center fielder Austin Jackson and second baseman Reegie Corona. Jackson went 1 for 5 with 1 run scored and 1 rbi along with a big, gigantic, I can’t believe he doesn’t have a nick name yet, why did you run so far away like I Ran by the Flock of Seaguls type of home, run, BOMBEROONSKI!! Corona went 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored and and 2 rbi’s along with a very distant, see ya later, alligator, it’s on the streets like The Heat Is On by Glenn Frey type of home, run, BIZZZZOMB!!!

The Tampa Yankees lost a close scoring game to the Palm Beach Cardinals by a score of 4-3. Starting for Tampa was Michael Dunn and he gave up 3 earned runs on 4 hits in 5 innings of work for the loss. Replacing Dunn was Rob Semerano and he gave up 1 earned run on 3 hits in 3 innings. The hitting stars of the game for Tampa worth mentioning were right-fielder James Cooper who went 1 for 2 and 1 run scored and catcher Jose Gil who went 4 for 4 with 1 run scored and 2 rbi’s.

Class A

The Charleston RiverDogs beat the Savannah Sand Gnats by a score of 5-3. Starting for the RiverDogs was Jairo Heredia and he pitched a great game giving up 1 run on 2 hits in 7 innings of work for the win but 1 run was unearned because of a throwing error by pitcher Jairo Heredia. Replacing Heredia to start the 8th inning was Craig Heyer and he pitched a perfect inning. Following Heyer to pitch the 9th was Stephen Artz and he gave up 2 earned runs on 1 hit in 1 inning. The hitting stars of the game for the RiverDogs worth mentioning were catcher Austin Romine and first baseman Brandon Laird. Romine went 2 for 4 with 1 run scored and 1 rbi along with a towering, look at me while I make funny faces behind your back because you deserve it because you are a dork, I’ve been in a cave for 40 days only a spark to light my way I Still Believe by The Call type of home, run, BAAAAAHMB!!! Laird went 1 for 3 with 1 run scored and 1 rbi along with a monstrous, over the mountain, moon shot, every body rejoice, That’s all ee yall, That’s All by Genesis, most ridiculous, home, run, BAHHHMB!!!.

Class A Short-Season

Game 1

(Completion of game previously suspended on 6/29/08)
The Staten Island Yankees won easily over the Aberdeen IronBirds by a score of 5-3 in the first game of their double header. Starting for Staten Island was Brandon Braboy and he gave up 1 earned run on 3 hits in .1 of an inning. Replacing Braboy was Drew Shetrone and he pitched 1.2 perfect innings along with 3 strikeouts. Following Shetrone to start the third inning was Brad Rulon and he pitched 3 scoreless innings giving up 1 hit. Jacinto Gonell came in for Rulon and gave up 2 earned runs on 2 hits in 3 innings for the blown save and the win. The guy who pitches with both arms, Pat Venditte pitched a scoreless 9th inning for the save .

The hitting stars of the game for Staten Island worth mentioning were shortstop Walter Ibarra and left-fielder Melky Mesa. Ibarra went 2 for 4 with 1 run scored and 2 rbi’s along with a giant, far, intense like I saw a werewolf drinking a pina colada at Trader Vic’s and his hair was perfect like a Werewolves of London by Warren Zevon type of home, run, BAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHHHMB!! Mesa went 2 for 4 with 1 run scored and 2 rbi’s along with a deep, enormous, JUMP JUMP, jump from the tiger like a Holy Diver by Ronnie James Dio type of home, run, EXPLOHHHHHSION!!!

Game 2

The Staten Island Yankees won easily over the Aberdeen IronBirds by a score of 3-0 in the second game of their double header. Starting for Staten Island was David Phelps and he pitched 6 scoreless innings giving up 3 hits along with 6 strikeouts for the win. Replacing Phelps to start the 7th inning was Josue Selenes and he pitched a scoreless inning for the save.
The hitting stars of the game for Staten Island worth mentioning were center fielder Raymond Kruml, third baseman Braedyn Pruitt and DH Brian Baisley. Kruml went 1 for 3 with 1 run scored and 1 rbi. Pruitt went 1 for 3 with 1 run scored and Baisley went 1 for 3 with 1 rbi.
