The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees won a close game over Syracuse Chiefs by a score of 3-2. Starting for Scranton was Alan Horne and he pitched 4 innings giving up 1 earned run on 3 hits along with 7 strikeouts for the no decision. Replacing Horne to start the 5th inning was David Robertson and he pitched 3 scoreless innings giving up 1 hit. Following Robertson to start the 8th inning was Scott Patterson and he gave up 1 earned run on 2 hits in 1 inning. Billy Traber got the win by pitching the 9th inning and he gave up only 1 hit and struck out the rest. The hitting stars of the game for Scranton worth mentioning were shortstop Alberto Gonzalez and second baseman Bernie Castro. Gonzalez singled home Castro for the winning run. The Charleston RiverDogs lost a close game to the Rome Braves by a score of 8-7. Starting for the RiverDogs was Jason Stephens and he did not pitch well giving up 4 earned runs on 11 hits in 5.2 innings of work for the no decision. Replacing Stephens was Wilkins De La Rosa and he gave up 3 earned runs on 4 hits in 2.1 innings for the blown save.
