The New York Yankees beat the Tampa Bay Rays by a score of 2-0. Starting for the Yankees was Mike, “Moose” Mussina and he gave up 1 earned run on 5 hits in 6.1 innings of work for the win. Replacing Moose in the 7th inning was Ross Ohlendorf and he got the last two outs of the inning giving up no runs on 2 hits for “his” line but he let Mussina’s run in. Joba, JUST Joba pitched a scoreless 8th inning striking out 3. “Ya Gotta Go To Mo,” Mariano Rivera pitched a perfect 9th inning for the save. The hitting stars of the game for the Yankees worth mentioning were Hideki Matsui and Robinson Cano. Matsui went 1 for 4 with 1 run scored and Cano went 4-4 with 1 rbi.
