Down on the Farm Day 26 Minor Leagues 4/29/2008

Triple A

The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees romped over the Buffalo Bisons by a score of 10-6. Starting for Scranton was Dan Giese and he gave up 2 earned runs on 5 hits in 5.2 innings of work for the win. Replacing Giese in the 6th inning with two outs was Billy Traber and he gave up 1 run on 1 hit and the run he gave up was unearned because of a throwing error by shortstop Nick Green. Scott Patterson followed Traber and came in the 7th inning and gave up no runs on 1 hit in .2 of an inning. Heath Phillips came in after Patterson in the 8th inning and he gave up 3 runs on 3 hits but 1 run was unearned because of a wild pitch Phillips threw. He didn’t make it out of the inning and didn’t get an out. Steven Jackson came in for Phillips and made the first 2 outs of the 8th inning on 1 hit and didn’t give up a run. Jose Veras SLAMMED the door on the Bisons. Veras pitched the last 1.1 innings and gave up no runs and no hits and had 2 strikeouts for his 9th save of the season. Call him up! The hitting stars of the game for Scranton worth mentioning were second baseman Bernie Castro, first baseman Juan Miranda, third baseman Chris Kunda and DH Eric Duncan. Castro went 2 for 5 with 2 runs scored and 1 rbi. Miranda went 1 for 2 with 3 rbi’s. Kunda went 1 for 2 with 2 rbi’s. Duncan went 2 for 5 with 1 run scored and 2 rbi’s along, with, a, big, home, run, BAHHHHMB!!!

Double A

The Trenton Thunder edge the Connecticut Defenders by a score of 4 -1. Starting for the Trenton Thunder was Chase Wright and he pitched brilliantly giving up 1 earned run on 4 hits in 7 innings for the win. Replacing Wright to start the 8th inning was Michael Gardner and he gave up no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings for his 3rd save of the season. The hitting stars of the night for Trenton were left-fielder Colin Curtis who went 2 for 5 with 1 run scored and first baseman Cody Ehlers who went 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored and 2 rbi’s along with a big, huge, awesome, home, run, BOMB.

Class A

The Charleston RiverDogs beat the Augusta GreenJackets by a score of 6-3. Starting for the RiverDogs was Zachary McAllister and he gave up 3 runs on 5 hits in 8 innings for the win. He gave up an unearned run because a throwing error that he made. McAllister is 3-1 with a 1.13 era for the year. Jonathan Ortiz pitched a perfect 9th inning for his 8th save of the season. His era for the year stands at 1.69. The hitting stars of the game for the RiverDogs were catcher Jesus Montero, third baseman Brandon Laird, DH Taylor Holiday and short stop Walter Ibarra. Montero went 1 for 3 with 1 run scored and 1 rbi. Laird went 1 for 3 with a run scored and 1 rbi because of a big, home, run, BOMB!! Holiday went 2 for 3 with 1 run scored. Ibarra went 1 for 3 with 1 run scored and 2 rbi’s along with a massive, gigantic, enormous, home, run, BAHHHHHMB!!!!
