Yankees lose to the White Sox 7-6

The Yankees lost to the Chicago White Sox by a score of 7-6 and lost the game in the bottom of the 9th. Phil Hughes started for the Yankees and it looked as though he would redeem himself for past game failures but the long rain delay ended his night. Hughes pitched 2 innings and gave up no runs on 1 hit. Ross Ohlendorf followed Hughes and did terrible. He gave up 5 earned runs on 5 hits in 2 innings of work. Latroy Hawkins came in and pitched the 5th and 6th inning and gave up 1 earned run. Kyle Farnsworth pitched a scoreless 7th on 1 hit. Joba came in the 8th and pitched well but lost the game in the 9th. Joba gave up 1 earned run on 2 hits in 1.1 innings. Joba wasn’t throwing enough fastballs and relied on his breaking ball just a little too much imo. The hitting stars for the Yankees were Bobby Abreu, Jason Giambi and Melky Cabrera. Abreu went 2 for 5 with 1 run scored and 2 rbi’s. Giambi went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored and Cabrera went 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored and 2 rbi’s along with a home run.

    Ohlendorf lost the game.

  11. Ohlendorf should not be sent down. He’s been great for us, think about the whole season, not just last night.

  12. He did let up an earned run almost every game. He needs time like Hughes.
