DeRosa to Giants means one less team to sign Damon
According to Buster Olney’s twitter, Mark DeRosa is leaning toward taking the two-year offer from the Giants. That’s great news for New York Yankee fans who want Johnny Damon back. The St. Louis Cardinals are the only team that has offered Matt Holliday a contract and if he accepts their offer and Jason Bay signs with the Mets, Johnny Damon may have no other choice but to sign back with the Yankees at the Bobby Abreu contract.
The appeal of DeRosa was mostly hype. He’s an average outfielder with a terrible batting average and he’ll be 35. He hit over 20 home runs for the first time in his career at age 33 and 34. The best thing about him was his versatility because he can play so many positions.

I hope damon comes back for a two year deal. His def is questionable but his offense is good enough to stay. even if he doesn’t hit 24 hrs again, he can hit for a consistent avg and get on base enough to be useful.

It would be great. The Yankees won with him and his defense wasn’t great so I don’t see why they can’t do it again. All we would need would be for him to get on base and just score runs.
