The Yankees DH in 2010 is?…
I’m looking at the Yankees’ roster and as it stands, I don’t see a significant DH.
Juan Miranda is not the DH I have confidence in. Say it’s Yankee fan arrogance that says the Yankees should have a great player at every position but that’s how I feel.
C Posada
1B Teixeira
2B Cano
3B Rodriguez
SS Jeter
LF Cabrera
CF Granderson
RF Swisher
DH Juan Miranda
Bench
C Cervelli
Infielder Pena, Russo, or Corona
OF Gardner
OF Hoffmann
Maybe have the Yankees put Swisher at the DH spot and sign Johnny Damon? That would be a good move. What about Hideki Matsui? I’d love for him to be the DH. I don’t know why the Yankees would let such a force in crunch time go. He’s a big time hitter in big time situations.
I’ve read that Brian Cashman wants the DH spot open for players to substitute in and out all year like Posada and A-Rod. That makes sense.
Matsui is not getting younger so having DH in 100 games and having the other 60 split between A-Rod, Posada and Jeter would be a good move as well. He’s great protection for A-Rod in the line up and would cost less than Johnny Damon not to mention the money the Yankees would get in the Japanese market. You can tell I’m about making money in other markets.
Matsui provides a power bat in the Yankees’ lineup. If the Yankees don’t re-sign him then I hope they find some one to replace all of those home runs and doubles.
Looking at the Yankees’ bench. It suddenly seems weak. Also, what about having a DH that can play the infield too?
Then you have young players in the farm like Jesus Montero who could always get called up and play the DH spot but I don’t think Montero is anywhere near ready. I’d like to see him in a full season in Scranton.
We’re going to have to leave it to Brian Cashman because I’m sure he knows more than we do. After all, the Yankees are World Champions.
