Selling Low on Joba Chamberlain

I’ve been hearing all type of trade rumors and a lot of them include Joba Chamberlain. You hear that the Red Sox might go after Roy Halladay to give them another ace to compete with the New York Yankees. If the Yankees have to give up young players for Halladay, you know Joba and Austin Jackson will be included in the trade. Those are the players teams will ask for when they want players from the Yankees.

I don’t like the idea of selling low on Joba. He’s only 24 years old and we still don’t know what we have with him. What happens if Mo goes down? I feel Joba could take the role of closer for the Yankees and succeed since he doesn’t have to hold back in the closer’s role.

Joba has had shoulder surgery and he hasn’t been effective like he was before the surgery. I feel that the Yankees’ doctors and their experience with pitchers should be considered before trading Joba.

Since his surgery, he has developed arm strength issues and that may have resulted in mechanical issues like the hitch that Dave Eiland has identified.

I wish we could look into the future and see what type of pitcher Joba is going to become. He has been pretty inconsistent and remains a big question mark. He has showed brilliance in some starts last year but he never showed he could be as good as Roy Halladay.

This is Joba’s year to prove what he can do. I say leave him as be and let’s see where he takes us. Don’t sell low on him.
