Yankees fans: My thoughts on different topics

June 4th, 2010 Sean S. Posted in Misc No Comments »

Jim Joyce and his blown call against Detroit pitcher Armando Galarraga’s perfect game: Did it bother me when I saw it on tv?

It did. It bothered me a little. I was like, wtf? That’s not cool.

Does it bother me that MLB is not going to reverse the call?

No it doesn’t. It’s part of the game and human error is part of baseball. I’m glad Bud Selig is not going to change it.

Is Robinson Cano the best player in baseball?

Yes. I think he’s better than Alex Rodriguez this year. I don’t think he’s better than Alex when Alex was at his best or at his best.

Why does Alex Rodriguez have such a low home run total?

Well he has eight. That’s about four home runs a month which comes out to 24 total home runs. It could be that the steroids “were” helping him hit a lot of home runs. It could be that he’s 34 years old or it could be bad luck. To be honest, I don’t have an answer.

Is Phil Hughes the real deal?

He is. His time is now and it’s here. I feel that he always had the arm and athletic ability but he needed more pitches. Now he has the cutter that he learned from Mariano. I feel that Mariano should be a bull pen coach when he retires so he can teach all the Yankees pitchers the cutter. It’s been very effective for Phil Hughes. Some times he over relies on the cutter because it’s such a good weapon for him.

Are the Yankees going to win the World Series this year?

Well last year I didn’t think so until a certain game. I forgot what game but it might of been against Boston where they came back and won. They had that magic. This year, I’m not sure again because they are having a hard time hitting good pitching. They beat up on the bad teams but have a harder time with the good teams like most teams do.

I didn’t enjoy the Baltimore Orioles series at all. I really didn’t like watching the Yankees pound the Orioles into submission. I like to see good teams in baseball to give the Yankees competition. That’s why I’m glad the Red Sox, Rays AND Blue Jays are good this year. I don’t feel it’s good for baseball when you have the same teams on top every year because of payroll.

How do I feel about BP and the oil spill and how it’s related to Obama?

Well I know people want Obama to jump up and down and pretend he is mad but there’s nothing he can do about it. If there was, I’m sure he would of done it already.

How do I feel about Israel attacking the Flotilla aid ships?

I didn’t like it. I didn’t like it at all but I understand it. Israel has a lot of countries that hate them and they are paranoid. That paranoia led to the attack. It wasn’t right that they attacked civilians on board the Flotilla ship but Israel does have Hamas trying to attack them on a daily basis so I understand where they are coming from. I still think they should unblock the blockade of the Gaza strip because I feel that’s wrong. They’re not punishing Hamas because Hamas is living the high life. They’re punishing the innocent Palestinians.

Am I a republican or a democrat? A conservative or a liberal?

I started off as a democrat. Then I considered myself a conservative republican but now I’m an independent. I feel that both parties give in to big money interest groups and don’t care about the will of the American people.

I’m liberal on a lot of topics and I’m conservative on a lot of different topics. There are too many to call me one type.

Yankees afternoon quick notes

May 22nd, 2010 Sean S. Posted in Misc, Yankee Writers No Comments »

Hughes’ turn at the plate and I always get scared when one of our pitchers has to get up at bat because of what happened to Javier Vazquez last night.  Vazquez had great movement on his pitches which was great news.

Double-A lefthander Jeremy Bleich is likely headed for shoulder surgery after being placed on the disabled list a few days ago. That’s never good news. Bleich was 3-2 with a 4.79 ERA.

Two Phenoms take the stage tonight at Citifield. I have a feeling Phil Hughes will be the victor.

The Subway Series No Longer Big in Japan since Hideki Matsui is not on the Yankees anymore. It makes sense. Japan loved him and they follow him where ever he goes. I wonder if the Yankees lost fans from Japan because of this. I’m sure they did.

I didn’t watch the Yankees game but was at Giants/Jets new stadium

May 5th, 2010 Sean S. Posted in Misc No Comments »

Hello Yankee fans. I didn’t get to post anything all day because my day program named Universal Institute took me on a tour of the new Giants/Jets stadium. Then after that we went out and got some thing to eat. I didn’t get to post Yankees Daily girl either. I’ll post one tomorrow. I don’t want to write about the game if I didn’t see it. I saw the box score and the Yankees won but David Robertson didn’t pitch well. Pettitte pitched well and Swisher hit well.

Yankees met Pres. Obama because they reign supreme

April 26th, 2010 Sean S. Posted in Misc No Comments »

The Yankees are a team of tradition. You can’t beat a team of “tradition.” The spirit of some of the Yankees like Derek Jeter epitomizes the best of the Yankees tradition. They shoulder a legacy blessed like no other. The attitude, the success of having 48 Hall of Famers to Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera today shows that being a Yankee is as much about character as it is about performance.

Not every one can thrive in New York. It takes a certain type of player to thrive in the pressure cooker known as Yankees stadium. Some one who’s poised and professional who knows what it takes to wear the Yankees pinstripes.

Character. The Yankees have it. It’s what the Yankees “experience” is about. Having character and temperament to win with class and to lose with class. They had character when they met the president. They showed the world who they were. They showed the world that they are winners and they are winners with class.

You can win but can you win with dignity? Respect? Honor? Look towards the Yankees and you will find the answer you are looking for. They are the team of destiny yet again. They have the karma. They are it.

Yankee fans? Welcome aboard.

Yankees Daily gets home late on Wednesday

March 24th, 2010 Sean S. Posted in Misc No Comments »

I get home late but it isn’t by my own choosing. I go to a brain injured program during the day in case you didn’t know. The worker who picks us up on Wednesday likes to dilly dally around. Dilly Dally. Did you read that? Dilly “dally.” She usually picks us up at 3:30 PM but for some reason she picks us up at 4:00 PM on Wednesday. Then we have to go to the bank for a woman in our car who’s brain injured too and she wants to deposit $20 in her bank account. Then we stop at a store so the worker can buy stuff for who knows who. Then we stop and get some thing to eat at Wendy’s or another place.

While all this is happening, I’m seething on the inside because I know that there’s usually a New York Yankees game on. If I get home at 5:30 PM, I like to eat dinner so take another half hour off of that and it’s 6:00 PM already. Today, the game starts at 7:00 PM but the time I get on the computer, it isn’t worth typing anything.

At program, I run to a computer at around 12:00 PM and some one lets me use it for one minute because that’s all I need to post Yankees Daily Girl. I prepare it at night time.

Even though it’s spring training, there hasn’t been any big stories to write about. The biggest story now is who’s going to be the fifth starter. Yankee fans? I’ll see you tonight.

So I go to ESPN.com…

March 23rd, 2010 Sean S. Posted in Misc No Comments »

Ok, it’s morning time and I’m wondering what time today’s game starts for the New York Yankees. I’m hoping it doesn’t start at 1:00 PM again. I go to ESPN.com because I find it easier to find stuff on there than at other sites. Like if you want to find a score, I just go there. Well, I’m looking around the “mlb baseball scores” and I see nothing so far. I keep looking around and it looks like the Yankees aren’t playing today. Not bad I thought. Maybe I’ll get to write a good article about who knows what when I get home from program.

My brother also told me that it’s really hard to get players to do interviews once the season starts. If I wasn’t sick all winter I would of had more than one decent interview. I thought it was decent at least. My best friend liked it but my brother thought I was too “excitable.”

It will be interesting to see what other bloggers come up with since the Yankees aren’t playing. I don’t know about any of you guys but I still see what Peter Abraham is up to at Extra Bases. I say give him a year for him to start making other Red Sox blogs irrelevant. He’s that good.

I’d like to go to more Yankee games this year. I went to one in 2009. I’d like to go to at least four this season and be part of all the excitement. The best part of the game is taking pictures and making mini movies with your camera especially when the fans are going wild. Last year was the first time I used a camera that was able to record things live and then put it on your computer. I was raised in the 80′s and we didn’t have much technology in the 80′s.

Yankee fans. My fellow Yankee fans. 11 days and 14 hours to go before opening day. Are you ready?

Could the Yankees develop a late interest in Jermaine Dye?

March 8th, 2010 Sean S. Posted in Misc No Comments »

Could the New York Yankees develop a late interest in Jermaine Dye? They signed Nick Johnson as a designated hitter because they wanted to replace Hideki Matsui and Johnny Damon with left-handed batters but Johnson’s lower-back problems have raised a caution flag given Johnson’s history of injuries.Chicago Tribune

Dye is 36 but he has a strong arm and has power.

Mr. October’s Jersey going for $15 000 – $20 000 – wow

February 27th, 2010 Sean S. Posted in Misc No Comments »

Hunt Auctions is auctioning off a 1978 Reggie Jackson New York Yankees home jersey worn during the World Series. Hunt has the price going for between $15,000 to $20,000.

That’s some big bucks. I wonder what will happen when the current Yankees of Mariano Rivera, Derek Jeter and Andy Pettitte retire? Can you imagine how much their jerseys will go for? Maybe they won so many World Series titles that their won’t be a game where one of their jersey’s will sell a lot.

Maybe Alex Rodriguez’s jersey from the 2009 World Series will sell for a whole lot because it was his first win.

So Chan Ho Park has signed

February 22nd, 2010 Sean S. Posted in Misc 4 Comments »

Chan Ho Park says he has agreed to a deal worth $1.2 million with an additional $300,000 performance to join the Yankees bullpen.

You know, I’d take 1/8 of that. I’d actually take 1/8 of the performance bonus.
