Are the Yankees making moves just to make moves?

July 31st, 2010 Sean S. Posted in Trades 4 Comments »

Austin Kearns? Why is he so special? Why would the Yankees go out and get him? Is he a clutch hitter off the bench? Is he really going to make a difference? If he’s used to playing every day, wouldn’t that make him too cold to come off the bench and ruin his productiveness?

Mike Francesca said it would of been overkill to get Lee

July 9th, 2010 Sean S. Posted in Trades, mike francesca 3 Comments »

Well the Yankees are not getting Cliff Lee. He’s going to Texas. Boo hoo. My feelings are hurt. The Yankees would of been dominant and it would of been ridiculous. I’m watching Mike and he said it’s overkill if the Yankees got Cliff Lee. He said that it wouldn’t of been fun anymore. He said it’s not fair and there’s no competitive balance. He said it’s not enjoyable. I get his point. I reached that point but now I don’t care. If the Yankees are going to be a video game, they might as well get the best players.

Yes, the Yankees are ridiculous but I’m beyond that now. I’m beyond the ridiculous of it all. It’s sports. It’s entertainment. Let’s win and just destroy people. Who cares. Well, Mike does. Still, if we win with the best players at each position, it’s still winning.

It would of been very fun to watch the Yankees dominate every one. Tell me you wouldn’t of wanted to watch the Yankees annilate every one in their path. I don’t have the best life so I live through the Yankees. When they win, I win. Being sick stinks and when I see something or some one dominate, I dream of being that person because I can’t be that person.

Oh well. We’re still the best team in the league.

I “did” say the Yankees should trade Montero for Lee

July 9th, 2010 Sean S. Posted in Trades 3 Comments »

I posted it on July 6th… Yankees should trade one of their catchers for Cliff Lee So yes, Brian Cashman listens to me because I talk to him on the phone every day. I told him that… just kidding. Seriously, if the Yankees get Lee, it’s all over for the rest of the league. I’m going to call my father up and ask him about it in a little while.

Yankees should trade one of their catchers for Cliff Lee

July 6th, 2010 Sean S. Posted in Trades 9 Comments »

Should the Yankees wait until free agency or should they go after Cliff Lee now and win another “guaranteed” world series according to some who think Lee would help that much.

If the Yankees wanted to get Lee, they have a plethora of catchers to give the Mariners. I don’t know what the Yankees have in store for Jesus Montero but there is absolutely no room for him anywhere. He’s not the best defensive catcher so I don’t see him being the starting catcher for the Yankees in the future. Francisco Cervelli is doing just fine in my view. The Yankees also have Austin Romine who’s supposed to be a good catcher defensively so I assume he’ll battle Cervelli for the future starting job.

Since Montero is not going to be a Yankee catcher in the future, trade him for Lee. Of course you’ll have to throw more prospects in but he would be a starting point. There’s no room for him at first or third with A-Rod and Teixeira signed there for a lot more years each.

Then the Yankees have Gary Sanchez playing for the Gulf Coast League Yankees and he’s destroying the ball down there. Gary Sanchez was the rated number seven prospect for the Yankees in 2010 by Baseball America.

Rob Johnson is the Mariners primary catcher and he’s batting .197. That’s not some thing to be proud of.

As you can see, the Yankees have a lot of catchers the Mariners can have but it will most likely have to come with more prospects and probably cash added in. Here’s the amazing thing about Lee. In his last seven starts, he has pitched four complete games. With the Yankees, he can have Mariano come in the ninth and save the game for him and not worry about ruining his arm.

According to Ken Rosenthal and Jon Paul Morosi of Fox Sports, the Yankees will like to obtain Lee but only at a suitable price.

Was The Nick Swisher Trade A Good One?

August 27th, 2009 Sean S. Posted in Trades 16 Comments »

Nick Swisher is hitting .243/.366/.476 with 21 HR and 67 RBI through 120 games. He has a very good on base percentage and ranks 25th in the American League. It looks like he is playing well and we hear how much he’s loved in the clubhouse with the way he loosens every one up with his personality and frolic. Nick strikes out a lot but he does seem to work the count.

The Yankees sent Jeff Marquez, Wilson Betemit, and Jhonny Nunez to the White Sox for Nick Swisher and Kanekoa Texeira.

Let’s look at the players the White Sox got.

Jeff Marquez is getting destroyed in triple A in which he plays for the Charlotte Knights. He is 2-8 with a 9.85 ERA and a WHIP of 2.06 and is getting rocked hard since coming back from a hamstring injury. He’ll never be an ace.

Wilson Betemit has only played in 20 games for the White Sox this year and played terribly. He hit an unfathomable .200/.289/.311 before being sent down to the Knights where he is still hitting bad. He has hit .241/.315/.417 in 62 games for Charlotte.

Jhonny Nunez was the only good piece the White Sox got out of the deal. He is a middle reliever for the Knights and has combined record of 5-0 with a 2.57 ERA between Double A and Triple A in 39 appearances. For the Knights he has a 3.54 ERA in 13 appearances.

Kanekoa Texeira balances out Jhonny Nunez because Texeira is having a good season for Trenton. He started six games and made a total of 37 appearances. He has a 8-5 record with a 2.61 ERA.

Did Cashman win this deal? It’s all what you think of Swisher because Kankekoa and Nunez are both middle relievers and I’m not sure of the impact a middle reliever has.

I say maybe. I say this because we did get a starting position player out of the deal that brings chemistry to the clubhouse and we all know how much chemistry plays a role in championship teams. He does seem to strike out at the most inopportune times and he makes bone headed plays in the outfield. We’ll see how he contributes in the stretch run.

* I had a nice day and got a massage. I spent time for myself. It was good to get in the sun and walk as well.

* Yes, the Yankees lost and I’m afraid we might see what I’ve said before, that the Red Sox will creep up on us.

* I love Thursdays even more than Fridays because Thursday is my first day off for the week.

Yankees Acquire Pirates Eric Hinske

June 30th, 2009 Sean S. Posted in Trades 4 Comments »

Eric Hinske is a 31-year-old left-handed hitter who was part of Boston’s 2007 World Series championship club, batted .255 in 54 games with the Pirates. He had one home run and had driven in 11 runs.

The Yankees will also receive cash considerations in exchange for minor league right-handed pitcher Casey Erickson and minor league outfielder Eric Fryer.

Hinske could help fill a variety of roles for the Yankees, including playing all three outfield positions as well as backing up third baseman Alex Rodriguez and first baseman Mark Teixeira.

I know know much about this guy. I’ll find out more about him when I get home because I have stuff to do because it’s Tuesday mid day and it’s my chores day.

The Manny trade makes the Yankees better

July 31st, 2008 Sean S. Posted in Trades 1 Comment »

The trade deadline

Mark Feinsand believes that the trade makes the Yankees better because Manny is one of the best right handed hitters of all time and the Yankees won’t have to face him anymore unless it’s in the world series. He also believes that no one scares you as much as Manny when he is up at bat.

Bryan Hoch of Bombers Beat believes this is a trade deadline for the ages. There were a lot of hall of famers and recognizable faces that were traded. Bryan Hoch also breaks down the Randy Johnson trade with the Diamondbacks and the only player left in the trade for Yankees is right handed pitcher Steven Jackson.

Pudge Rodriguez traded to the Yankees

July 30th, 2008 Sean S. Posted in Trades No Comments »

ESPN reports that Pudge Rodriguez has been traded from the Tigers to the Yankees for Kyle Farnsworth. I don’t understand the trade because Molina was great throwing out base runners.

Yankees stay young

January 30th, 2008 Sean S. Posted in Free Agents, Trades No Comments »

The New York Yankees stood their ground as their cross town rival Mets have gained national attention with the signing of Johan Santana. The Yankees didn’t want to part with their younger pitchers and Brian Cashman was the key player to staying young. Will it pay off? No one knows but if Santana turns out to be the King of Queens and the Yankees’ Baby 3 doesn’t work out, GM Brian Cashman will be held accountable.

Could Santana really be dealt soon?

January 29th, 2008 Sean S. Posted in Mets, Red Sox, Trades No Comments »

We keep hearing all week that Santana could be dealt soon but I have a feeling that the Twins are bluffing because they want Hughes and the better Yankee prospects than the Red Sox and Mets could give them and the Red Sox would like the Yankees to break the bank for Santana. The Red Sox are the WS champs and they have a championship roster so they don’t need Santana. The only real reason the Yankees and Red Sox are playing this game is to keep Santana away from each other.
