Girardi has done a terrific job – Mike Lupica

August 11th, 2008 Sean S. Posted in Mike Lupica 3 Comments »

Mike Lupica

Mike Lupica believes that Joe Girardi has done a great job this season even they don’t make the playoffs. The best move Cashman has made has been the hiring of Girardi.

That is why when you add it all up, the Yankees being where they are with Chien-Ming Wang out of action and Hideki Matsui out of action and Jorge Posada gone for the season and without a single victory from the two kids (Phil Hughes, the immortal Ian Kennedy) who were supposed to be the back-end of the rotation, with Joba Chamberlain on the disabled list, the best move Brian Cashman made this season might have been hiring Girardi. – Mike Lupica

Are the Yankees hiding a serious Joba injury?

Are the Yankees hiding something?mikelupica.jpg

We don’t know if Joba Chamberlain did serious damage to his shoulder the other night, don’t know if he is lost for the season. But if the Yanks were bowled over by their great and good fortune Tuesday, they sure weren’t acting that way. – Mike Lupica NY Daily News

If Chamberlain’s injury report was negative, the Yankees would of been in a hurry to report the news but that doesn’t seem to be the case here.

Disappointmentsalexrodriguezandhiswife.jpg

Mike Lupica of the NY Daily News believes that Derek Jeter is under performing and is hitting 33 points below his lifetime average. Robinson Cano is hitting 46 points lower than his batting average from last year. Alex Rodriguez has his numbers but he’s not carrying the Yanks like he is paid to do. No one cares about numbers once you make the post season however.

Mike Lupica of the New York Daily News believes the Boston Red Sox are in for a “pitched” battle. The Red Sox have lost too many late inning leads this season and have been a bad road team. The Red Sox lineup has looked as helpless as the Yankees’ lineup has this season and Lupica believes that Joe Girardi has done a better job with the Yankees’ bull pen this year than Joe Torre. Says Lupica.. thinking.gifJoe Girardi, at least so far, has done something Joe Torre hadn’t done for a long time, which means assemble a bullpen that is more than Mo Rivera.

A-Rod – The Face of the Yankees

March 23rd, 2008 Sean S. Posted in Mike Lupica No Comments »

Alex Rodriguez is now the face of the Yankees. He has a big contract and a big swing but he fails in the post season. This era and time was supposed to belong to the New York Yankees, not the Boston Red Sox and their fans. The question Mike Lupica asks is..

Will Alex Rodriguez break the all-time home run record before he wins a World Series wearing a Yankee uniform?

A-Rod is not the only reason why the Yankees have failed miserably in the post season as of late but it would of helped if he would have made a big swing in crucial situations the kind that Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz make.

There’s a new Joe in town

March 16th, 2008 Sean S. Posted in Mike Lupica, Non Game News No Comments »

Mike Lupica believes that the current Yankees are now Joe Girardi’s team and that Girardi’s Yankees have more of an “attitude” than Joe Torre’s Yankees. He believes that Joe Girardi doesn’t care if any one in baseball likes him and feels that the Yankees needed a change.
