The Red Sox are actually pretty good

August 6th, 2010 Sean S. Posted in 2010 Regular Season, Red Sox No Comments »

Let’s SEE?! AHHH!!! I just felt like doing that. Let’s see, 62-47. A plus 65 run differential, a 7-3 record in their last 10 games, the second most scored runs in the whole league(this part scares me) and three pitchers with over 10 wins. Yup, that’s the Red Sox that the NY newspapers want us to sweep and destroy and put distance from.

Knowing this is a Red Sox/Yankees series, the Red Sox could sweep us even if they were the worst team in the league. It’s the rivalry that starts them up. It gives them life. It sustains them.

The part in parenthesis that scares me… The Red Sox are second in all of baseball in scoring runs right behind the Yankees. How will Javier Vazquez handle them? How is inconsistent Burnett going to handle them? How is Dustin Moseley going to handle them?

We know C.C. Sabathia is our only guaranteed “solid” performer in the series but even he could get smacked around. What we don’t need is for three of our pitchers to get smacked around because they are intimidated by the Red Sox. I can see Javier Vazquez become a little intimidated. I don’t see Burnett becoming itimidated but I could see him lose the strike zone against this patient Boston team. Moseley? I don’t even know what to expect from him. We’re playing Boston. He is not a star pitcher.

And what happens when Joba comes out of the bull pen to face the Red Sox? Do I really have to watch?

So don’t be surprised if the unexpected happens or things don’t go the Yankees way this weekend. Boston is actually a pretty good team. Their record speaks for itself. It’s just that the Yankees and Rays are playing lights out baseball. Boston might lose or might not but they will go down hard trying.

Denton of Surviving Grady – Nitwit Red Sox Blogger of the Day

August 5th, 2010 Sean S. Posted in Nitwit, Red Sox 29 Comments »

So here I am, searching for what Red Sox fans have to say for themselves on the eve of the big series and I come across this, this blog. I think it’s called Surviving Grady. I don’t know how I got to this blog. I might of gotten there by accident while I was searching for lesbian midget porn or something.

So while I was there by accident, I decided to read one of the titles that read.. “Here’s An Idea: Stop Sucking!” by Denton. As I read the title, I had a feeling that I was going to think the same about his blog. You know, just stop sucking. Stop sucking it.

I read the first paragraph and I was amazed at how awful the Boston grammar schools must be. Games like this, watching that mess, unhooking bras. What the heck was he talking about? It was like, “I” was reading a mess. Then he talks about burning stuff and asking the reader about knowing about those things. Ah, I don’t think so. I’m not an arsonist, buddy.

Then we have the second paragraph which is supposed to be the meat and potatoes of the story. He talks about losing to Cleveland but is vague on answers. If I was a random reader like myself, I wouldn’t have a clue of what he was talking about. Instead, I got some made up word called stumble-bum. That’s how, according to Denton, the Red Sox lost. They stumble-bummed. Stumble bum means going to Taco Bell with hookers and taking shots after getting into a brawl during a game.

So what we’re basically talking about here folks is some drunk trying to use a blogging service during baseball hours when he should be in bed sleeping trying to cure his hang over.

So Denton, not only are you a fool, not only are you dork and half wit, but you are a “Nitwit.” You are the Nitwit of the day. Congratulations. You earned it.

Yankees lost to the Red Sox and that was a tough one

May 19th, 2010 Sean S. Posted in 2010 Regular Season, Red Sox 2 Comments »

The New York Yankees lost to the Boston Red Sox by a score of 7-6. Mariano Rivera got the loss.

So C.C. Sabathia pitched seven great innings. He gave up only one earned run for the no decision. I thought the game was over. The Yankees were up by six runs in the eighth inning. I was already writing the Red Sox’s eulogy. CC dominated, Juan Miranda drove in the first run then hit a home run later on. Robinson Cano was on fire. The Yankees were winning 5-1.

Then it happened…

Joba was in the game. A-rod then made a throwing error with no outs. I was thinking to myself, thank god this game wasn’t close because Joba has been fragile in the past. The next thing I know, the game is tied, 5-5. I couldn’t believe it but I could because it is the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry. Since the game was tied, I still thought the Yankees had the upper hand.

Ninth inning…. Mariano was on the mound. A man is on first and Marcus Thames drops a fly ball in the outfield. Man is now on first and second with one out. Then it’s second and third and Mariano lets two runs in. When the two runs came in, Randy Winn was playing “really” shallow. That is something that I didn’t understand. The Red Sox were now winning, 7-5 and it blew my mind. I couldn’t believe it. The Red Sox aren’t even that good. They should not be winning this game at this point I thought.

The Yankees still have that magic though, right?

It was the Red Sox’s turn to make an error. Marco Scutaro let A-Rod’s ball go right through his legs and the Yankees were in business. There were no outs. Robinson Cano drove A-Rod in and it was Cano on second with no outs. It was Red Sox 7-6 and it felt like destiny. I almost knew that there was no way the Yankees would lose this game. Cervelli moved Cano over to third and now there was one out. How can the Yankees lose this game? It was almost impossible I was still thinking.

Papelbon had a lot of full counts it seemed. He threw a lot of pitches and almost walked key batters. Miranda grounded out and then Randy Winn struck out. Game over. Yankees lost.

I was sitting in my chair in disbelief. I still can’t believe it as I’m typing this. It’s hard to believe because it doesn’t seem like the Red Sox had any right winning this game. They’re just not a good team. They’re not as good as they were in the past. If you want to make a case that the Red Sox stole this game, I’m not going to argue with you.

Yankees let the Red Sox back in the game again

May 18th, 2010 Sean S. Posted in 2010 Regular Season, Red Sox 1 Comment »

Just like last night. Wow. I had a whole write up done on how the Yankees won the game. Now I have to write it all over.

The Boston Red Sox are not as good as the New York Yankees. This game should not be as close as it is.

Yankees THAMES the Red Sox!!! They tamed them!!!!!

May 17th, 2010 Sean S. Posted in 2010 Regular Season, Red Sox 3 Comments »

The New York Yankees won over the the Boston Red Sox by a score of 11-9!

That was the type of game that makes you a believer. A believer in the Yankees. The Yankees “held” on and believed. Did you believe? Did you believe Yankee fans? In fact, let me let you in on a little secret. You GOTTA believe!!!

A-Rod smashed and crashed the Red Sox in the ninth inning!! Did you see it? He tied the game with a two run home run after going 2-for-5 with two runs scored, four RBI!!

Then Marcus Thames got up. Oh, no big deal. He’s not going to do anything in this spot. What?? He bombed the Red Sox!! He walked off!! He WALKED all OVER the Red Sox!! He hit a two run home run to win the game!!! He went 2-for-4 with one run scored and four RBI!!! Are you kidding me??? I’m so happy right now!!!

Jonathan Papelbon had successfully saved 22 straight saves. Not tonight. It wouldn’t be his night, would it? The Yankees BURNED him!! The dominated him!! The Yankees blazed him!! He was ignited and put to pasture!!! He was done!!! What a game!!!

Into the night!! The ball was buried in a sea of Yankee fans!!! Oh! Oh!! I can’t take it anymore!!! I have to get up and give a standing ovation… Hang on…

Wow! Let me do a little dance too! Hang on…

Ok, that felt great!!! We beat the Red Sox!!!

Sure, it wasn’t Phil Hughes’ night but he’s not going to be perfect every night out but this was a night for the offense…

Brett Gardner, three runs scored. Wow. What more can we say!! The Yankees won!! They beat the Red Sox!!

Yankees Mariano Rivera: Player to watch in the series?

May 7th, 2010 Sean S. Posted in Mariano Rivera, Red Sox No Comments »

You have to believe that Mariano was being saved for the Boston series because it’s an important one.

We know what happens some times when Mariano pitches against Boston. He some times loses the game. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a team beat Mariano as much as Boston has. Every time Mariano is on the mound against any team, he’s automatic. Against Boston, I don’t get the same feeling. I get scared. Boston seems to have owned him at different times in Mariano’s career. Mariano is 2-4 with a 2.75 ERA at Fenway Park.

I know Mariano hopes to play. Marc Craig from the Star Ledger says that Mariano Rivera should be ready.

Here’s my nightmare scenario. Mariano comes in the game in the ninth with the Yankees winning 3-2. He walks the first batter. Then a broken bat single. Then I’m at the edge of my seat not being able to take anymore.

He has to be the player to watch in the series because of how important he is to the Yankees. He also has a stiff left side which is a big negative. What bothers me is that Boston knows they can beat Mariano because they’ve beaten him before and they’ve saw him so many times.

Here’s the deal however. You win with your best players. Mariano is not only the best pitcher on the Yankees, he’s one of the best of all time. You have to stick with him because he knows how to win and he, that’s right, Mariano knows how to beat Boston just like they him. It’s not like he hasn’t beaten Boston before in close game and he can’t handle pressure.

If there’s anyone I want on the mound, against Boston, in the ninth inning with a one run lead, it’s Mariano Rivera.

It’s “still” Yankees – Red Sox

May 7th, 2010 Sean S. Posted in 2010 Regular Season, Red Sox No Comments »

So I’m sure you’ve heard who the Yankees play at 7:00 PM tonight. If you haven’t, let me clue you in. They play the Boston Red Sox…

Sure, the Red Sox are only one game over .500, Josh Beckett has a high ERA and David Ortiz is batting only .171. That’s good news to me but…

Dustin Pedroia and Kevin Youkilis are having good years and so is Adrian Beltre. David Ortiz is improving and Beckett had a better pitched game his last time out. The Red Sox have also finished sweeping the Angels so you know they’re going to go into tonight’s game with confidence.

We need the Red Sox to be good. If they aren’t, then the season isn’t as fun. I know the Tampa Bay Rays are good but it’s not the same. Their fan base is not like the Red Sox fan base where when the Rays lose, fans don’t cry like Red Sox fans. Red Sox fans are more passionate about their team more than any team in baseball besides Yankee fans and that’s why it feels so good to watch them lose.

We’re getting the Red Sox’s three best pitchers this weekend and you can bet it’s not by accident. They want to beat us and break down our confidence. We also have our three best pitchers going and it’s going to be one hell of a battle. Looking at the pitching matchups, you might predict low scoring games which I don’t mind because I like watching great pitching. When these two teams get together however, throw every prediction out the window. You never know what’s going to happen when they meet.

In one game, we can blow out their best pitcher but then get our butt kicked to some one like Daisuke Matsuzaka(Yes, I know he’s not pitching) What’s also interesting is that there always seems to be a fight between players. This is most likely because they feel the rivalry from the fans. Will there be a fight tonight? Who knows. Stay tuned.

My point of this article is this…  it’s going to be the same Red Sox/Yankees rivalry no matter what the records are. Both teams are playing well and it’s going to fun as hell to watch.

The Yankees just have that feeling about them and I want the Red Sox

October 10th, 2009 Sean S. Posted in 2009 Post Season, Red Sox No Comments »

You can *feel* it’s the New York Yankees’ year just by things that are happening. The clutch hits, the pies in the face, A-Rod turning into Mr. October, calls going their way. It all points to a championship. Nothing is going wrong.

Even towards the end of the season when the Yankees had back ups in the game, they were still coming from behind and winning games.

Now you have Joba Chamberlain, Phil Hughes and Mariano Rivera to deal with in the post season.

I “was” hoping that the Red Sox would beat the Angels because I want revenge for 2004. I want the Red Sox and I want the Red Sox, bad. They aren’t as good as last year but I don’t care. I want to see the Yankee roll all over them and squash them. I want to see A-Rod shut them up and put their fans in their place.

It doesn’t look like they’ll come back from a 0-2 hole however. Their main guy, Josh Beckett couldn’t get it done. If he’s not going to come through, who from the Red Sox will?

My father is coming over for 1:00 PM to take me out to eat. He usually comes over every Saturday. You should hear how happy he was on the phone that the Yankees won. That’s the first thing he mentioned as soon as he called, “How bout them Yankees?” That’s what he said. He says that because I used to say, “How bout dem Cowboys!” when the Dallas Cowboys were good.
